The act of killing

What is the film about?
The film was about the mass killings in Indonesia told by the killers perspectives . The killers were asked to reacted the horrifying events that they committed but after the killings they were seen as heros for what they had done and was proud of what they had done.

The scene that stood out to me was the last couple of scenes in which one of the killers put himself in the perspectives of the people he had killed and they after all the years of thinking he was a hero he realised that what he had done was awful. he then proceed to go back to the place he did his killings and started to gag and be sick remembering all the lives he had taken.

The director had some persense during the film with the killers and people in front of the camera asking him questions for time to time. The director had no part in front of the camera and had no voice overs about his view on the subject.

There was a sequel to the act of killing which was called the look of silence and was about an optician who confronted his brother killers who was killed during the Indonesian genocide. It is essentially giving a perspective from the other side of the genocide.
